Retro Looks at the Future

Posted on February 19, 2017

It’s always amazing to look back into the past and see what we thought our future would like. Sometimes you find that we weren’t too far off in predicting what our lives would like and other times its almost humorous. You have to love that even just fifty years ago man thought that we may already be colonizing space and living on another planet. Maybe it was all just wishful thinking.

5 Horror TV Series on Netflix

Posted on October 15, 2016

We noticed that Netflix has added some decent Horror tv series over the last month of two. Just in time for Halloween. If you are looking for a good scary, thriller or sci-fi related tv series to binge watch we found 5 that we like. There are probably lots more and we left some of the obvious ones like The Walking Dead off the list because most people have seen or are aware of it being on Netflix. We had to throw Z Nation in at the end, it’s so bad it’s great.

5 Horror TV Series on Netflix

1. American Horror Story (5 Seasons) – This series has everything from zombies, aliens, ghosts to vampires. Each season is a new story with the same actors and actresses playing the parts. Described as an anthology series, each season is conceived as a self-contained miniseries, following a disparate set of characters and settings, and a storyline with its own “beginning, middle, and end”.

2. Supernatural (11 Seasons) – When they were boys, Sam and Dean Winchester lost their mother to a mysterious and demonic supernatural force. Subsequently, their father raised them to be soldiers. He taught them about the paranormal evil that lives in the dark corners and on the back roads of America … and he taught them how to kill it. Now, the Winchester brothers crisscross the country in their ’67 Chevy Impala, battling every kind of supernatural threat they encounter along the way.

3. Buffy The Vampire Slayer  (7 Seasons) – he series narrative follows Buffy Summers, the latest in a line of young women known as “Vampire Slayers” or simply “Slayers”. In the story, Slayers are “called” to battle against vampires, demons, and other forces of darkness. Like previous Slayers, Buffy is aided by a Watcher, who guides, teaches, and trains her. Unlike her predecessors, Buffy surrounds herself with a circle of loyal friends who become known as the “Scooby Gang”.

4. Penny Dreadful ( 3 Seasons) – Some of literature’s most terrifying characters, including Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray, and iconic figures from the novel Dracula are lurking in the darkest corners of Victorian London. Penny Dreadful is a frightening psychological thriller that weaves together these classic horror origin stories into a new adult drama.

5. Z Nation (2 Seasons) – Z Nation starts three years after the zombie virus has gutted the country, a team of everyday heroes must transport the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab waits for his blood. Although the antibodies he carries are the world’s last, best hope for a vaccine, he hides a dark secret that threatens them all. With humankind’s survival at stake, the ragtag band embarks on a journey of survival across three thousand miles of rusted-out post-apocalyptic America.
